Froggy went a courting... and the princess lost her head!
I've been looking into some new directions for different markets besides traditional publishers. Pop-Surrealism seems especially appealing, but I'm trying to focus on traditional children's book themes.

This particular image has gone through many variations. It's interesting to change things around so completely and quickly with photoshop.

The texture is derived from a photo of my back porch stairs... of all the unlikely places!

Really? the textures from your front porch where? great illustrations as always, but I would love to know how your front porch gets to this wonderful illustration.
Thanks Susan! The texture is a photograph of the texture on the step of one of the back stairs. I have a whole library of textures, many of which are derived from photographs. I never know what's going to work, and since it's so easy to try numerous things, I finally decided on the texture of the stairs. I processed it with various filters, of course.
