My dusty ancient portfolio...

Here we have it... a little walk down memory lane. My dusty ancient portfolio.

Ah, if only it could talk, it would tell tales about the places it's been! All those subway rides around Manhattan... the elevator whisking it up to the 14th floor. The nervous butterflies as the receptionist invited my dusty old portfolio to please have a seat and wait.

The hopes that soared... the hopes that were dashed. Memory can be so devilishly tricky. I still remember the store where I bought my dusty old portfolio... near Columbus Circle in Manhattan.

But now, the dusty ancient portfolio just sits forgotten beneath my desk... replaced by smaller and smaller portfolios. And all of those replaced mostly by my website. The pace of change is amazing. I'm sure portfolios have existed for centuries... up until the last 10 years.

Progress... or so I guess.

I have one just like that, equally dusty, full of memories but empty of art. The stitching is loose, and it is slightly musty, but I hang onto it for old time sake!
They were good times.

About 80% of my business is traveling around doing storyboards and brainstorming sessions. My low tech tools are a pencil and a sharpie. My high tech tools is a laptop and a portable scanner.

My new portfolio is my ipod. I loaded my work into the photo section and folk love looking at the tiny screen. This mini portfolio works great out on assignment when other folks participating want a quick look at what you do.

Cool! iPod portfolio!

I just saw the new iPods today... I actually think they're almost too small now.

At a certain point they get too hard to hold because they're too lightweight and skinny.

Just my opinion, of course...

Isn't that funny - I have the saĆ¹me in my attic and I can't bring myself to throw it away.
*sigh*
It does bring back memories - maybe that's why it's so special?
And an electronic portfolio is a strange and wonderful idea. But if it's too small I think you wouldn't be able to get a good image of the picture.
