The Photographer's Food Chain

The Hunters... swarming like sharks in the shallows, tripods set for the quarry.

The Hunted... a blaze of autumnal color. Like moths to the flame they come.

The wonders of Nature are everywhere... even hiding under bushes.

A serene set of sails departs for sunnier ports in the distance...

Gorgeous shots. How do you get that rich, dark, almost smudgy, look?

It's an easy photoshop technique.

First copy the image to a new layer and change the new layer to 'multiply' from 'normal'. Then apply a 25% gasssian blur to the new layer.

Next flatten the image and lighten it up a bit with the Levels command (apple key + L)

It gives the image a misty sort of simplified look to it, where the detail is washed out but the essential forms come through.

Very simple & mysterious.

There must surely be a collective term for so many photographers out to photograph trees!
Makes you want to 'shoo' them all away so you can enjoy the trees alone!
Very nice Orton effect on the photos John.

Lol, do you have so few trees that photogrpahers keep lining up? I can find plenty here all for myself. :)

Lovely photoshop play.
