Two versions of a scene...

Here's a couple of tangential umbrellas. These two scenes are both for the same page from my book, 'Cromwell Dixon's Sky-Cycle'.

I thought it was interesting, looking back, how much easier it might have been to do a really sketchy style. But I guess that'd be a bit like going to a dress up dinner engagement in blue jeans and a sweatshirt. More comfortable, for sure.

I love these two illustrations, John. They're exactly the kind of illustration my son could spend hours staring at, and being launched into his own imaginary inventor's studio. Beautiful work, as usual.

Thanks Liza! I'd hoped that kids might like this sort of inventive fun... I know I loved building stuff out of junk when I was a boy.

But I guess I ought to have included a vampire or some sort of computer game to appeal to today's children... since they won't even carry my book in Barnes & Noble.

Next time I'll add a vampire.
