Trumpeting Lillys
What a lucky find to stumble upon these flowers almost by accident yesterday...
The vanilla scent is very nice too.
One suspects these flowers might be guilty of 'overacting'. They really almost are too much! No subtle flowers these. Wouldn't Beverley Nichols have loved this scene?

The bookjacket photo challenge...
Yes, it's time once more for that special form of torment known as the 'bookjacket photo'. It's all quite hilarious looking through the photo tryouts... especially once you start critiquing the results. I only wished i could add tag lines...
"Insane artist seeks asylum... looks like he might really need it too"
"Bad hair day again?"
"Hmmm... that sophisticated nonchalance thing didn't quite work..."
I could go on.
"Looks like you've been drinking... but I haven't touched a drop."
"Looks like you could use a little conditioner maybe!"
"Did I mention I cut my own hair?"
Thank gosh for the delete key, that's what I say. At least my transgressions of vanity can all be destroyed in private!
Then some of them are almost okay.. except for that one tuft of hair that pokes out in defiance of everything else.
An on site hair stylist could have been handy.
Whew! What a chore... I'm glad that's done.

Dragonflies...
Oooooo... dragonflies! And these were just tiny ones. I'll have to keep an eye out for the really big ones now.
They're very good about posing for the camera. They waited for about 15 seconds before flying off.It's amazing how their wings are structured. The telephoto is great for catching these about 7 feet away and blurring the background.

Art + Technology... halfway around the world
Here we have it... a minor miracle in Technology & Art!
The proofs have arrived to my long awaited book. The two images are amazingly close in color, considering that one was created with a mixed-media of paints, brushes, a wacom tablet, scanners and photoshop. And the other was created on a printing press somewhere in China, halfway around the world.
So I'm very pleased... considering what an experiment it all was for me. Although I've done lots of single page illustrations with digital mixed media, this is really my first full fledged book attempt. And considering all the additional effects I've employed, which could only have been done with digital, this really was an experiment.
But happily, it all worked out. Whew!

Day Trips Out...
I suppose a definition of a 'vacation' is where one vacates one's domicile to inhabit a new one.
Therefore, these little day trips probably don't qualify as vacations per se.
The drive back is always the challenge. Oh well, it's almost time to get out my camping tent and head out for the tall trees.:0)

The Eye of the Beholder...
Beauty lies entirely in the eye of the beholder.
Take for instance this photo of a set of newly installed 'J' pipes. Who would ever think this might be a thing of beauty? Why the lowly mechanic who put them in of course!
Endeavor can be a mysterious thing. When the mere sight of a set of 'J' pipes is enough to instill a sense of fulfilled accomplishment, what rapture more might an artist desire?
